Module Overview #
The Product Packaging Policy Management system allows the creation of both Standard Policies and Special Policies to define packaging rules, materials, and clients associated with products. Below are detailed guidelines and explanations for managing this module.
Policy Management Fields #
- Policy Description:
- Rich text editor where you can define the description of the policy.
- Options for formatting: Bold, Italics, Underline, Strikethrough, Subscript, Superscript.
- You can add bullet points, numbered lists, links, and media content.
- Policy Name:
- Field to enter the name of the policy (e.g., “IQF STD 1” or “POL 1 – USA VACUUM KIRKLAND”).
- Policy Type:
- Options:
- Standard: Default rules for packaging.
- Special: Specific rules for clients or categories.
- If Special, you must choose a Client and associated Products.
- Options:
- Category Included:
- Options:
- Yes: Select a category, and the policy will apply to all products within this category. You can also exclude specific products.
- No: Manually select individual products for the policy.
- Options:
- Choose Category (Applicable if “Category Included” is “Yes”):
- Dropdown to select a category (e.g., “Frozen Foods”).
- Excluded Products:
- Dropdown to manually exclude products from the chosen category.
- Choose Clients:
- Dropdown to select the client(s) for the policy (required for Special Policies).
- Pallet List:
- Dropdown to choose a pallet associated with the policy (optional).
Material Management #
- Material List:
- Dropdown to select materials used in packaging (e.g., “Cardboard box 5 kg”).
- Each material has associated Quantity and Calculation By fields.
- Quantity:
- Numerical field to define the quantity of the material required.
- Calculation By:
- Options:
- By Box: Calculate the packaging based on individual boxes.
- By Pallet: Calculate the packaging based on pallets.
- Options:
- Parent Material:
- Applicable when there are multiple materials.
- You must assign a parent material if the material is not the main one:
- The first material has no parent.
- Other materials must select their parent from the list of previously added materials.
- Example:
- Material 1: Main (no parent).
- Material 2: Parent = Material 1.
- Material 3: Parent = Material 1 or Material 2.
- Add More Material:
- Button to add additional materials to the policy.
- Each material follows the hierarchy rules for parent assignment.
Accessories Management #
- Accessories List:
- Dropdown to select accessories required for packaging (e.g., “Tape”, “Plastic Wrap”).
- Each accessory has associated Quantity and Calculation By fields.
- Quantity:
- Numerical field to define the quantity of the accessory required.
- Calculation By:
- Options to calculate the accessory usage:
- By unit.
- By weight.
- Options to calculate the accessory usage:
- Add More Accessories:
- Button to add additional accessories to the policy.
Actions #
- Edit:
- Opens the policy in edit mode, allowing changes to any field.
- View:
- Displays the details of the policy without allowing edits.
Policy Application Logic #
- Standard Policies:
- Apply to general products without client-specific rules.
- Special Policies:
- Require selecting a client and products.
- Additional customization based on:
- Category Included (Yes/No).
- Excluded Products.
- Specific material and accessory rules.
- Category-Based Policies:
- If “Category Included” = Yes:
- Choose a category.
- Automatically applies to all products in the category, with the option to exclude specific products.
- If “Category Included” = No:
- Manually select products for the policy.
- If “Category Included” = Yes:
- Material Parent-Child Relationship:
- Material 1: Always the main material.
- Material 2 onwards: Parent must be selected from the list of previously added materials.
Example Workflow #
- Creating a Standard Policy:
- Enter Policy Name: “IQF STD 1”.
- Add materials with their respective quantities and calculation methods.
- Add accessories and define their quantities.
- Creating a Special Policy:
- Enter Policy Name: “POL 1 – USA VACUUM KIRKLAND”.
- Set Policy Type to “Special”.
- Choose Clients: “Kirkland USA”.
- Set Category Included = Yes:
- Select “Frozen Foods” as the category.
- Exclude “Fish Fillet 200 g”.
- Add materials and accessories with their respective configurations.
- Adding Materials with Parent-Child Hierarchy:
- Material 1: “Cardboard box 5 kg” (Main material, no parent).
- Material 2: “Plastic Wrap” (Parent = Material 1).
- Material 3: “Tape” (Parent = Material 1 or Material 2).
- Saving the Policy:
- Click Add Policy to save.
